California Cottage Food Law

On Friday, September 21, 2012 Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed Assembly Bill 1616 allowing the California Homemade Food Act, which¬†“clears the way for home cooks to make and sell a wide range of products, such as jams and jellies, without the need to invest in commercial kitchen space or comply with zoning and other regulations.”

At this time county health departments across the State of California are working to pull together how the law will be implemented. As this information becomes available it will be posted on CottageFoodLaws.com.
