Engage

If you are even remotely familiar with social networking then you know about Facebook. There is an area on Facebook where you can “like” a person or organization. This is important, since “liking” means in some way, you hold that person or entity near and dear to your heart, at least enough to click the “like” button.

When you operate a business however the clicking of the button becomes more important since you are using this format to communicate not just with those you like and want to be your fan, but also those who will use your products and/or services. That got me to thinking. Is there a big difference between a fan and a customer? If you have 526 fans on your Facebook page and you are not making any money selling your lemon lavender biscotti, you might want to survey those fans and find out why they are not purchasing? It is one thing to associate and quite another to actually engage. If you want to be successful in social networking, you have to engage and you have to respond to the encounter and dance like you really mean it.

It is your responsibility, when you are in business to make money to be mother, father, sister, brother and sometimes lover. It is a challenging task but not impossible. Think of it as an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and move the masses to action. You know, shake, shake, shake; shake, shake, shake; shake your booty!

This is really one of the more difficult tasks you will encounter as you work tirelessly to build a lucrative business.
